- Program Overview

The UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute (HVI) APP Cardiology Fellowship provides a foundation in cardiology for HVI advanced practice providers with a focus on new graduates and those who are new to cardiology. The program will provide a basis for ongoing professional education and clinical practice in the HVI, and will provide both didactic and experiential learning opportunities.
- Intended Audience

APPs that are employees in UPMC Cardiology service line entering or practicing in a cardiology specialty as they will be providing guideline directed medical therapy to patients across UPMC facilities.

The individual courses may require 5-6 hours of weekly time and dedication.
This will program will continue to run in the Fall, Spring, and Summer.

Instructor Name and Information Lisa M. Henry, DNP, CRNP and lead faculty for Cardiology, specializes in cardiology and is a certified nurse practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She practices at UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute and is affiliated with UPMC Presbyterian, UPMC Shadyside, UPMC Passavant, and UPMC Jameson. She has her Doctorate in Nurse Practice and her master's degree in Nursing from Carlow University. She is also a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology.
Katie Lee Scollon, PA-C, and lead faculty for CT Surgery, specializes in cardiothoracic surgery and is a certified physician assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. She practices at UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute and is affiliated with UPMC Mercy, UPMC Passavant, UPMC Presbyterian and UPMC Shadyside. She completed her physician assistant at Gannon University.
Amy L. Haller, MPAS, PA-C, MBA and lead faculty for OAPP: is the director of the Center for Advanced Practice Education in the UPMC Office of Advanced Practice Providers. She earned her Bachelor of Health Science and Master of Physician Assistant Studies degrees from Duquesne University, completed a Post-Graduate Surgical Residency for Physician Assistants at Yale University/Norwalk Hospital, and earned a master's degree in Business Administration from Chatham University with a concentration in Healthcare Management. Her research interests include interprofessional education and the professional development of health care practitioners.
